Developmental Editing

This is the stage of the writing process where you get feedback about what is working/what is not working in terms of plot, character, pacing, setting, and structure.

Copyediting

Copyediting happens after developmental editing. It is combing through your story and editing for sentence structure and flow, making sure everything makes sense, is correct, and sounds good.

Proofreading

Proofreading happens close to when you are ready to publish your work. This is the stage where final polishes on grammar, spelling, and punctuation are made. In some cases, proofreading includes checking formatting issues of the manuscript before publication.
